Terminals at IAD

Main terminal

Holds ticketing, check-in, the security checkpoints, baggage claim and the ground transportation level. The Silver Line Metro station is connected by a tunnel.

Concourses A and B

Reached by a walkway or the AeroTrain. A and B hold many airline gates and the Chase Sapphire and British Airways lounges.

Concourse C

Reached by the AeroTrain. This is where the United Polaris Lounge is located, and many United gates are here.

Concourse D

Reached by a shuttle bus from the main terminal, or on foot from Concourse C. It is used by many international flights.

Concourse Z

Reached by walkway from the main terminal. Concourse Z has a small number of gates.

Moving between terminals

The AeroTrain connects the main terminal to Concourses A, B and C, and each trip takes about two minutes. Concourse D is served by a shuttle bus from the main terminal, and Concourses C and D connect on foot. These transfers all happen inside security, so you do not need to be screened again. Concourse E is due to open in late 2026.

Can I walk between Dulles concourses after security?

Yes. The AeroTrain links the main terminal to Concourses A, B and C, and the concourses link to each other by walkway or shuttle. None of these transfers require a new security check.
