How delays work at IAD

A ground stop holds flights bound for IAD at their origin airports. A ground delay program spaces arrivals out so the airport is not overloaded. Local tips

  • Dulles is very easy to use once you are past security. Walk to the concourses you need and plan your time on the AeroTrain.
  • The Silver Line Metro is a practical way to reach downtown Washington, D.C., but the walk from the station into the terminal takes about seven to eight minutes.
  • Pet relief areas are available both inside the concourses and outside the terminal.
  • Most lounges at Dulles require a ticket, a status level or a card, so check the access rules before you walk to the gate.
