How delays work at MSP

A ground stop holds flights bound for MSP at their origin airports. A ground delay program spaces arrivals out so the airport is not overloaded. Local tips

  • Check which terminal your airline uses before you leave. Terminal 2 has no Metro Transit bus stop, so for city buses you need to take the free train to Terminal 1.
  • The Terminal 2 checkpoints are closed between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
  • The Mall of America is about 12 minutes by train. Allow time to get there and back if you have a layover.
  • If you arrive without a REAL ID, TSA ConfirmID is available for a $45 fee as of February 1, 2026, but it is not guaranteed to work.
