Parking at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keāhole (KOA)

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii PHKO #75 US airport by passengers

Your options for leaving a car at KOA, and how to avoid paying more than you need to.

Where to park at KOA

KOA parking runs through the Metropolis ticketless system launched in January 2026. Register with your license plate and payment card, then drive in and out without a ticket. You can still pay at the exit attendant with cash or a card.

  • Main public lot

The main lot is directly across from the terminal. The first 15 minutes are free. Then the rate is $2 for 16 to 30 minutes, $3 for each block up to 2 hours, and $4 to $5 for longer stays, up to a $24 daily maximum (third-party rate table).

  • Cell Phone Waiting Lot

Free, north of the terminals. Drivers can wait up to 60 minutes for arriving passengers.

  • Accessible parking

Accessible spaces are in the main lot across from the terminal for drivers with valid placards.

  • The Hawaii Department of Transportation said parking rates at KOA stayed the same when it launched the Metropolis system. It also said advance parking reservations would open in March 2026.
  • Metropolis requires a phone number, license plate and payment method on file before your first visit.
  • For long stays, the main lot is usually the cheapest option because the daily maximum caps the cost.
