HNL at a glance

Daniel K. Inouye International is the main airport for Oahu and the gateway to the other Hawaiian Islands. It has three terminals, and most mainland and international flights use Terminal 2.

Terminal 1 handles Hawaiian interisland flights and some mainland gates, and Terminal 3 handles smaller interisland carriers. The free Wiki Wiki shuttle links all three terminals and the Skyline rail station.

Terminals

Terminal 1

Hawaiian Airlines operates here, with gates A1 to A20 and B1 to B5. The Hawaiian Premier Club is near gate A18, and the Plumeria Lounge is on the third floor.

Terminal 2

The main mainland and international terminal, with gates in several concourses. The United Club and the Delta Sky Club are both here, along with the IASS Hawaii lounge in the Garden Court area.

Terminal 3

A small terminal for Mokulele interisland flights. It has few shops and restaurants, so eat before you arrive. Arrive about 75 minutes before departure.

Moving between terminals

The free Wiki Wiki shuttle runs between Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and the Skyline station, with stops outside each terminal. Terminals 1 and 2 are also linked by a walk of 10 to 15 minutes from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1, which is signed for interisland flights. Inside the terminals, electric carts run between gates in Terminal 2.

Getting to and from HNL

  • Rail

    Skyline rail, Lelepaua Station

    Located between the International Parking Garage and the Terminal 2 Parking Garage, with walkway access on the fourth level. Skyline runs about every 10 minutes and needs a HOLO card, which you can buy from the vending machine at the station.

  • Bus

    TheBus

    The bus stop is on Ala Onaona Street, east of the lei stands. Cash or a HOLO card works on TheBus, and free transfers between Skyline and TheBus last up to two hours from the first paid tap.

  • Shuttle

    Wiki Wiki shuttle

    Free shuttle that serves all three terminals and the Skyline station. It operates from about 3 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. daily.

  • Rideshare and taxi

    Terminal 1 pickup is curbside, on the mauka side of baggage claim 6. Terminal 2 pickup is on the ground-level median across from baggage claims 19 and 20, and near claim 31.

Tips for HNL

  • The Wiki Wiki shuttle is free and runs often, so there is no need to walk long distances between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 on foot.
  • If you are flying an interisland flight, check the terminal on your ticket. Interisland flights can use Terminals 1 or 3.
  • Priority Pass members should check the IASS Hawaii Lounge hours, because it closes at 6 p.m.
  • The Garden Court area in Terminal 2 has gardens between the concourses and is a quieter place to wait before your flight.
